Call it a moment of impulse, or just being at the wrong place at the wrong time seeing the wrong kind of action. This book of dread, regret and tension descends deeper into a nightmare with each page - a nightmare so realistic you might ask "what if it had been me?"

A kidnapping, a pig-napping and then a murder. How much bad luck can a pair of newlyweds get?

What we love about this mystery is how fun it reads. It's something silly, with characters you can root for. It's not the scariest premise, but it's a solid crime mystery with a good splash of pure bad luck.

The premise itself is straight out of a horror story. Sophie wakes in the darkness of her bedroom – and finds a stranger watching her from the foot of the bed. The intruder hands Sophie a letter and issues an ultimatum: the message is to be opened at her forthcoming fortieth birthday party, in front of family and friends, at exactly 8 p.m.. Any failure to comply will not end well.

IM SORRY BUT WHAT SORT OF FRIDAY THE 13TH REALNESS.
