Once upon a time, Margo had asked her husband that if they were to add another person to their sex life, who it would be? She was surprised when he shrugged and named Gail, the single mom next door. She’d expected some sexy, unobtainable actress. Gail eventually found out and teased him endlessly about it. Until one day, years later, who should they meet while enjoying a local car show?

“Did you enjoy your walk?” my wife asked.

I nodded, and my eyes were drawn to her new companion. There was something familiar about her.

Margo grinned slyly. “Sweetie, do you know who this is?” she asked, waving toward her companion with her hand.

I studied her and again found something familiar, but I just couldn’t place it. I shook my head.

“Honey, this is Gail.” She said, as if that should have cleared everything up. I shook my head again and looked at the lovely woman. She pursed her red-painted lips and blew me a kiss, without the hand gesture. My jaw dropped, and it all came rushing back.

Early in our marriage, while I was still learning my trade, we lived upstate for about five years. Our kids were still in grade school, and we lived in a rather plain town home somewhere between the suburbs and the poorer communities. Our next-door neighbor was a single mom named Gail. Her son was of a similar age to our two boys, and they got on famously. Gail was a pretty thing, a couple of years older than us, with a tight athletic body and a gorgeous face.

As neighbors went, we got along well, and everything was as normal as can be. Until one night, Margo and I lay talking in the post-coital afterglow, when the subject of threesomes came up. And eventually, it got around to, “So, if we were to include another person, who would it be?”.

“Tom Selleck,” Margo answered immediately. She smiled and shivered. “The idea of being sandwiched between the two of you makes me all gooey inside.” I smiled, not surprised at all. Magnum P.I. reruns were a regular thing on our TV.

She looked over and batted her eyes at me. “What about you, handsome?”

I thought for a moment and then answered honestly. “Probably … Gail.”

Margo blinked hard and then laughed out loud. “Geez, babe. I was expecting you to give me some unobtainable actress or musician.” She laughed again. “Not the neighbor lady.”

I shrugged. That was the problem with celebrities. They were unobtainable and therefore not worth a thought. But the gorgeous MILF next door, she was worth a thought or three.

She smiled and then laid her head on my chest. “Well … at least you picked someone attractive.” And the subject was dropped. At least for that night.

A week went by, and one afternoon, the two ladies were outside watching the kids play in the cul-de-sac. I was outside washing our car.

I was washing the wheels when I heard Margo speak up. “Gail, you know what Levi told me the other night?” I froze on the spot and turned to her, and her eyes met mine with a mischievous look.

Gail shook her head with an inquisitive expression. “I asked him if we were to have a threesome with someone, who would he want?” she said, looking back at our young neighbor. “He said, you.”

I was expecting Gail to laugh, but she didn’t. She just grinned at me. “Well, now, isn’t that interesting?”

My wife nodded and looked back at me as I blushed bright red. “Yes, very interesting.”

For the next year, every time she saw me in passing or parted company from us, she’d look at me, purse her lips, and blow me a kiss with a seductive look. And she wasn’t shy about it, doing it right in front of Margo all the time. Margo thought it was hilarious. So, to see her standing there in front of me, after seventeen years, was mind-blowing.

It took me a few seconds to gather my wits. “Gail … wow. What a small world.”
