EA Mylonas is a Greek author of speculative fiction. He is best known for his debut novel, The Hush (2022), a dystopian work that explores silence, language, and control.
Mylonas was born in Athens, Greece. He trained as an environmental scientist and later became active in climate advocacy and anti-corporatist causes. His work reflects these themes, often set in near-future societies shaped by ecological and political crises.
Before writing fiction, Mylonas worked as a photographer and game writer. He has travelled widely and lived in several countries. His past experiences include tending wounded sea turtles and baking for a Michelin-star restaurant.
Mylonas’s short stories have appeared in magazines such as Clarkesworld, OnSpec, and Fusion Fragment. His fiction blends literary style with science fiction concepts, often addressing social and ecological issues.
The Hush (2022) imagines a world where language has been banned in the name of Unity. Speech and writing are outlawed. The novel follows a small-town teacher who faces a terminal illness. She and her husband have lived in silence for years, their marriage strained by grief and unspoken resentment.
Their life changes when Corvo, an illegal child with intact vocal cords, enters their home. Her presence forces the couple to confront the silence that defines their lives. Meanwhile, the town Sheriff hunts Corvo, seeing the child as a threat to the fragile order.
E. A. Mylonas currently lives in Copenhagen, Denmark.
