Simon Basset, the irresistible Duke of Hastings, has hatched a plan to keep himself free from the town′s marriage-minded society mothers. He pretends to be engaged to the lovely Daphne Bridgerton. After all, it isn′t as if the brooding rogue has any real plans to marry — though there is something about the alluring Miss Bridgerton that sets Simon′s heart beating a bit faster. And as for Daphne, surely the clever debutante will attract some very worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, she soon forgets that their courtship is a complete sham. And now she has to do the impossible and keep herself from losing her heart and soul completely to the handsome hell-raiser who has sworn off marriage forever!

I thought it can be more interesting after I watched the Netflix show, but the book is kind of boring because of too much sweetness. I don't think in reality people can love each other like this.

Aunque ya había visto la serie de Netflix, fue un encuentro agradable con los protagonistas. En este tomo eché en falta algunas subtramas que existen en la serie, más adoré el detalle añadido en los protagonistas.

    👎Give This a Miss

While the storyline had potential, the writing and characters were not believable and there were flaws in the plot.

Quotes

Simon decided this wasn't the time to mention that he'd been one inch away from easing her up against the wall, pressing his hips against hers, and kissing her senseless

For a moment Daphne forgot to breathe. Just when she’d decided that her would-be rescuer was irredeemingly arrogant, he had to go and smile at her like that. It was one of those boyish grins, the kind that melted female hearts within a ten-mile radius.
