“And I don’t expect you to lie.” I rubbed a hand over my head and made a sound. “I don’t want to sneak around. I don’t want to pretend I’m just your manager when really you’re my entire world.”

“So you’re breaking up with me?” He pulled back, hurt and pain in his expression.

I looked away. “Yeah.”

“No.”

Sometimes when we were in a room full of people, I could look up and meet his eyes for a split second, and that was all it took. I knew even though we weren’t right beside each other, he was thinking about me, and he knew I was thinking about him.

What we had wasn’t easy, but it was real and we were making it work.

“He’s not mine for you to take.”

“I think we both know that isn’t true,” she said kindly.

“You’re possessive,” I observed, feeling my lips tilt up.

“You’re protective,” he replied, giving me the same look.

We kissed just to try.

To see if maybe there was something more between us than friendship.

We had an answer now. An unequivocal, resounding reply

“Try with me.” My words were abrupt.

His hazel eyes widened and the arms crossed over his wide chest fell to his sides. “What?”

“You want to try with a guy. See what it’s like… Use me.”

Trent was driving. I wasn’t sure he knew, but he was the only person I’d ever let drive my car.

There was only one bed.

You park while I check in?”

I laughed beneath my breath and felt my face crack into a wide smile.

He trusted me with his car.

He didn’t trust anyone with it but me.
