“Can I ask you something?”
He paused, meeting my gaze, then nodded. “Sure, ask away.”
“What happened last night? The last thing I remember is trying to call my best friend, and the next thing I know, I wake up here in this bed with no memory of how I got here.”
After being betrayed by my lover, Owens Pierc—whom I had been dating for three years—I was reluctant to distance myself from my family after discovering my sister’s affair with him. To make matters worse, I was made her maid of honor at her wedding to Owens.
In a state of turmoil, I ran away from the wedding and ended up at a bar, where I got drunk and encountered the irritating Kevin, who tried to take advantage of me.
“There!” I pointed at the man across the lounge, standing tall with one hand in his pocket, exuding an intimidating air. “The one in white long sleeves. He’s been on the phone since we arrived, so I’ve kept myself busy here.” I glanced at Kevin, pleased to see the insecurity flicker in his eyes—exactly what I wanted.
That man—whom I had referred to as “my man” just to get rid of Kevin—was the one who came to my defense, sending the obnoxious guy packing. I briefly spoke to him afterward but soon switched from martini to whiskey, trying to push out the thought of what I might’ve wanted with him. He introduced himself to me, and I did the same. I then reached my limit and planned to call my best friend, Diya, to take me home. That’s the last thing I remembered.
What will happen if Alpha Aaron turns out to be my fated mate, and we spent the weekend together—only for me to later find out that I’m pregnant with his child, as his human mate?
