Frank Nugent

Frank Nugent is an experienced mountaineer and explorer. Chairman of the Mountaineering Council of Ireland (1997–2000), he was Deputy Leader of the first and successful Irish Everest Expedition (1993), followed in the footsteps of Shackleton across South Georgia (1997), and sailed the Northwest Passage in Northabout, a shallow-draught boat, in 2001. A member of the Alpine Club and the James Caird Society, he is a retired curriculum and assessment expert and has an MA in Adult Learning and Development. His latest book is In Search of Peaks, Passes and Glaciers: Irish Alpine Pioneers (2013).
