Faith Hogan is an Irish writer of contemporary fiction and crime fiction. She is best known for My Husband's Wives (2016) and The Bookshop Ladies (2024).
Faith Hogan was born and raised in the west of Ireland. She holds an honours degree in English Literature and Psychology from Dublin City University and a postgraduate degree from University College, Galway.
Before becoming a writer, she worked in various fields, including fashion modelling, event organisation and the mental health and intellectual disability sector. "The constant throughout has been a love of books! I have read and written all my life," she said in an interview.
She began her writing career after winning the 2014 Irish Writers Centre Novel Fair, an international competition for emerging writers. Reflecting on the experience, Faith said, "The feedback was very positive and complimentary, and suddenly, there were possibilities beyond just scribbling a few lines here and there". Her debut novel, My Husband's Wives (2016), became a top ten bestseller in Ireland upon its release.
Faith's subsequent novels, including The Ladies' Midnight Swimming Club and The Place We Call Home, have achieved bestseller status in the US, UK, Canada and Australia. The Ladies' Midnight Swimming Club debuted at number one on the Amazon UK charts and remained on the bestselling and best-read lists for weeks. Her work has been praised for its heartfelt storytelling and relatable characters, often set against the beautiful backdrop of small-town Ireland.
In 2018, Faith was selected as a Words Ireland winner at the DWAD event, an achievement that opened up further opportunities in the literary and film world. The following year, she was recognised as the Mayo Business Woman of the Year (Arts) at the Network Ireland Business Woman of the Year Awards.
Faith's latest novel, The Bookshop Ladies (2024), explores friendship, betrayal and self-discovery themes. It tells the story of Joy Blackwood, a widow who unravels the mystery of her late husband's past in the small Irish town of Ballycove. The novel has been shortlisted for the 2024 Post Book Awards.
In addition to contemporary fiction, Faith writes mystery novels under the pen name Geraldine Hogan. Her Corbally series, set in Limerick, is published by Bookouture. She also contributes regularly to newspapers, magazines and short story collections.
Faith Hogan still lives in the west of Ireland with her husband, four children and two very fussy cats.
