Jessika Devert

Jessika Devert is a Swedish author of feel-good fiction who previously worked as a freelance journalist. She writes humorous, relationship-driven novels set in everyday life. She is known for The Diary I Never Wrote (2021) and has written nineteen feel-good books since then. Her work also includes children’s books, biographies and collaborative audiobook series.

Jessika Devert began her writing career in 2010 with a children’s book series about Kicka, a curious girl exploring the modern world. During this period, she worked as a freelance journalist, producing articles for major Swedish publications. Her writing appeared in Aftonbladet, Expressen, Amelia, Tara, Allers, Året Runt and Hemmets Journal. She also wrote medical texts for Sahlgrenska University Hospital and digital content for various organisations.

Her published output expanded across several genres, but a shift occurred when her first feel-good novel, The Diary I Never Wrote, was released in 2021. The book sold strongly, and within two weeks, she signed contracts for both a sequel and a new series.

It later became the first part of a trilogy, followed by two additional titles. She also created the Cat Hotel series, which focuses on community life and personal change within a smaller setting.

In addition to her solo novels, Jessika has collaborated with her sister, Annika Devert, writing a five-part audiobook series and a subsequent spin-off trilogy. Together, their work has reached an international audience, and translations of their collaborative titles have contributed to growing interest in Swedish feel-good fiction.

The Diary I Never Wrote (2021) follows a woman in her fifties who is asked by her adult daughter to keep a diary. The book portrays daily routines, changing relationships, medical work at Sahlgrenska and shifting emotions tied to family and ageing. Featuring humour and realistic depictions of midlife challenges, it has been compared to a middle-aged Bridget Jones set in Gothenburg.

Jessika Devert has sold over 350,000 books.
