Jeff Lindsay

Jeff Lindsay is the pen name of an American crime author, Jeffry P. Freundlich. He is best known for writing the Dexter series of novels about sociopathic Miami Police Department forensic analyst and serial killer-killing vigilante Dexter Morgan.

Lindsay was born in Miami. He graduated from Middlebury College, Vermont, in 1975.

His earlier published works include as a co-author his wife, Hilary Hemingway, daughter of Leicester Hemingway, Ernest Hemingway's brother.

His stand-alone novels include Dream Land: A Novel of the UFO Cover-Up (1995), Time Blender (1997), and Dreamchild (1998). Time Blender was co-written with Michael Dorn, an American actor best known for his role as the Klingon Worf in the Star Trek franchise.

Jeff Lindsay published the first book in the Dexter series, Darkly Dreaming Dexter, in 2004. It formed the basis of the Showtime television series Dexter and won the 2005 Dilys Award and the 2007 Book to TV award.

The television show ran for eight seasons from October 2006 to September 2013. Actor Michael C. Hall played the main character.

Jeff Lindsay had a cameo role in the tenth episode of the third season of Dexter. He has also written a comic book version of Dexter, distributed by Marvel comics.

Jeffry P. Freundlich currently lives in Cape Coral, Florida, with his wife and three children.
