Trisha Ashley

Trisha Ashley is a British writer of romantic comedies. She is best known for The Wedding Dress Repair Shop (2023) and The Book of Lost Stories (2025). Her novels have been shortlisted twice for the Melissa Nathan Award, and she won the RNA Popular Romantic Fiction Award in 2024.

Trisha Ashley was born in St Helens in West Lancashire. She credits her dark humour to her Lancashire upbringing, balanced with a "dose of Celtic creativity" from her Welsh grandmother. Before writing full-time, Ashley worked in a variety of jobs, including stained glass and plumbing. She has joked that her former hobbies included "getting divorced and packing to move".

She began writing novels rooted in romantic comedy, often set in rural areas of West Lancashire, West Yorkshire and Wales. Many of her stories revolve around food, flowers and friendship. Her books usually include recipes and explore themes of community and personal renewal.

Her breakthrough came with Every Woman for Herself, which readers voted one of the three best romantic novels of the last fifty years. Ashley's continued popularity has earned her a place in the Sunday Times Top Ten bestseller list.

Her latest novel, The Book of Lost Stories (2025), is a sequel to her previous novel, Lord Rayven's Revenge (2007). It follows Cleo Finch, a researcher obsessed with proving the true identity of a Gothic novelist, and combines elements of historical fiction and literary mystery.

Ashley is a founder member of Novelistas Ink, a group of women writers based in North Wales, and a long-standing member of the Society of Authors.

Trisha Ashley now lives in North Wales.
