Kris Verburgh

Kris Verburgh, MD, is a researcher at the Center Leo Apostel for Interdisciplinary Studies (CLEA) at the Free University Brussels, where researchers are committed to interdisciplinary scientific questions, and one of 64 faculty of Singularity University, a Silicon Valley think tank that offers educational programs and a business incubator. Dr. Verburgh researches diets, foods, nutrients, medications, and other interventions that can extend healthy life span and reduce the risk of aging-related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, neurodegenerative diseases (Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, vascular dementia), sarcopenia (muscle loss), macular degeneration, osteoporosis, and others. Verburgh has established nutrigerontology, a new scientific discipline focused on the impact of nutrition on the aging process and related diseases. His numerous previous books include the international bestseller The Food Hourglass.
