Gesine Lemcke

Mrs. Lemcke was well known in Manhattan and Brooklyn, NY for lecturing on cooking. She made such a success of it that she opened offices at 30 Livingston street and at East Forty-second street, Manhattan, where members of some of the most prominent families of the Brooklyn and Manhattan boroughs went to hear her. She published a book entitled "European and American Cuisine," which became so popular that many extra editions had to be printed. For many years she ran the Clifton Hotel at Good Ground, L. I.from her obituary in the Brooklyn Daily Eagle dated October 4, 1904.
