Matt Wilven

Matt Wilven is a British author of The Blackbird Singularity and Farzaneh And The Moon. He works full-time as a content manager for a healthcare organization.

Matt Wilven was born in Blackpool. After receiving an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing, he spent the next ten years honing his craft.

His part-time jobs at this time included: bingo caller, ice-cream man, fishmonger, paintball operative, camel derby caller, soap seller, copywriter, rollercoaster operator, warehouse packer, old people feeder, and DJ workshop coordinator.

Wilven debuted in 2016 with the novel The Blackbird Singularity. It was nominated for an Amazon Rising Star Award, longlisted for the Guardian’s Not the Booker Prize, and featured on W H Smith’s 2017 Fresh Talent campaign.

His second book, Farzaneh and the Moon (2019), is a coming-of-age novel about the pursuit of freedom in 21st-century London.

Matt Wilven lives in London, writing his third novel and various screenplays.
