Sarah Pinborough

Sarah Pinborough is an English writer of horror, YA, and adult thriller, fantasy and cross-genre novels. She is a New York Times and Sunday Times bestselling author with over 25 novels published worldwide. In 2021, Netflix developed a limited series based on Pinborough's psychological thriller novel Behind Her Eyes.

She also writes under the pen name Sarah Silverwood.

Sarah Pinborough was born in Milton Keynes, England. Her father was a diplomat, and the family lived in Syria until she was eight. Sarah first attended Bedford High School and then the West London Institute (now Brunel), where she studied history and English.

After a brief marriage, Pinborough took up a profession as a secondary school teacher while continuing to write her novels. She taught at the Lord Grey School in Lea Manor, High School in Luton, and Walton High, Milton Keynes.

Sarah Pinborough debuted with her first novel, The Hidden, in 2004. She published one book a year and became a full-time writer as of 2018.

Sarah Pinborough was the 2009 winner of the British Fantasy Award for Best Short Story and also the 2010 and 2014 winner of the British Fantasy Award for Best Novella, and she has four times been short-listed for Best Novel.

Her short stories have appeared in several anthologies, and she has also written a Torchwood novel, Into the Silence (2009). Torchwood is a spin-off series from the BBC series Doctor Who.

Pinborough's psychological thriller Behind Her Eyes (2017) was the number-one Sunday Times and New York Times bestseller. Behind Her Eyes has sold to nearly twenty territories. The novel was adapted into a Netflix television series of the same name.

Her latest thriller, Insomnia (2022), was named one of the Best Thrillers by the Washington Post.

Sarah lives in the historic town of Stony Stratford, England.
