Scientific inventions and discoveries in the last few centuries have greatly changed our lives. Information technology, transportation and war weaponry are among the domains with the most awesome changes.
Furthermore, our philosophical concepts have essentially settled on universally accepted doctrines. In politics we subscribe to majority rule and democracy. In society we believe in justice, equality and freedom.
Unfortunately, like the medical field where every effective treatment carries with it a possible side effect or complication, every desirable aspect of our civilization has a hidden pitfall. We rightly follow the majority's thinking as norm, but there are also unconventional views to ponder.
