It is evident that our economic market is at odds with the environment; James Eggert's second book, Greenspan's Anguish,Thoreau as prophet illustrates this seamlessly. The work implores us to consider the negative impact our social consciousness is having on the environment. It convincingly illustrates the environmental issues involved with our markets and focuses attention on the individual to counterbalance the current economist's perspective. With incredible insight Eggert guides us through the vast economic perspectives which weigh heavily on our environment. He presents us with “meadowlark economics” a perspective which sees the ramifications our collective actions are having on nature (meadowlarks). The work adamantly conveys the idea that we must grow with nature not against it. He even offers us a solution : simplicity. He uses philosopher Henry Thoreau as an example of the simplicity we should implement into our lives. If We execute this form of living, our anguish and Greenspan's, will subside.
