About the Author
Debra K. Smith, a Smith who married a Smith, and her husband are the parents of five children (three daughters and two sons) and have thirteen grandchildren, one great-grandchild and two more on the way. They are retired dairy farmers from Wisconsin.
Three of her grandparents were in the church. She had one great-grandmother who came into the church in her old age; she was easily able to accept this truth of receiving the Holy Ghost because she heard her mother (Debra’s great-great-grandmother) speaking in tongues on her deathbed. (At the time she thought her mother was just talking gibberish but after experiencing the Holy Ghost she knew that her mother was actually speaking in tongues.)
Why did God choose Smith to reveal this message? Many times He chooses to use the farmer, just like He chose the shepherds to witness and reveal His birth.
Jeremiah 1:6 “Then said I, Ah, Lord God! behold, I cannot speak: for I am a child (a woman). But the Lord said unto me, Say not, I am a child (a woman): for thou shalt go to all that I shall send thee, and whatsoever I command thee thou shalt speak.”
