Dragon Farming

Inara Green has a job to do in Wunderlust. She believes herself to be as prepared as anyone can be. However, the moment her plane reaches the threshold of the land, she realizes she may have bitten off more than she can chew. The weather changes from the warm summer that the rest of the country is experiencing to a snow blizzard. But the bizarre weather is not the only thing that takes her by surprise.

The golden-eyed man who meets her at the airport is nothing like she had expected.

The novice mage has been tasked to check out Cain Industries, a dragon farm, and make a suitable recommendation based on what she finds.

If only she could keep herself from being distracted by Micah Cain, brother to the owner of the farm. The attraction between the two is undeniable, but she must remain impartial and prove herself worthy of the job that she had been tasked with.

Except she falls for him immediately and things grow more complicated when she finds herself at the mercy of a man who hides a secret that is too big to ignore.

~~~~~ PG Excerpt ~~~~~
They came looking for him eventually, but not quickly enough.
He wished that he had gotten an itinerary of her day. Perhaps then, he would have started looking earlier.
The thing that clued him in that something was amiss was not the avalanche. Those happened often enough that they knew to avoid most places where it happened. It was the fact that the avalanche had turned into a landslide halfway, that it had melted and turned to a flood of water that brought dirt and debris downhill with it.
“Where's Inara?” he asked even though his attention should be on the nest that they were still in the process of perfecting for the dragons.
“Inara? Jin's bringing her out to town today, I believe,” answered Danielle, who was friendly enough to everyone that she knew everybody's business without having to ask around for gossip.
“Jin?” Jackie's voice had a tone of worry in it that he did not like.
“What's wrong with Jin?” he asked.
For a moment, Jackie looked like she didn't want to say anything, but her tone had been caught by her husband, who rounded at her with a look of concern that she couldn't ignore. “What is it?” Peter asked, his tone low and dangerous.
Jackie fidgeted a little, and then said, “He gives me the creeps, that's all. I try to stay away from him if I can.”
Jin had only ever been perfectly respectful towards himself, but Micah knew that some men pretended to be perfect gentlemen until they think nobody's looking.
“Go,” Peter turned to him and said, needing no more words to understand the dawning horror on his face.
He ran out the door and got to his car.
There was no sign of her in town. No sign of her in any of the houses, warehouses, offices, production factories, or anywhere at all that he thought he would be able to find her.
He found Jin in a bar, drinking with the money that he was supposed to be sending to his mother and slammed the boy's head against the countertop. It was early still and the other men at the bar merely looked with quiet curiosity. Nobody got in his way or tried to help the young boy.
“What did you do to Inara?” he demanded.
