HANS: Alliance Series Book Four

“You bring it with you?” Nero’s eyes are way too interested.
I shake my head. This cheap bastard is gonna try to get a free sword out of Hans, and I give it a fifty-fifty shot that either Nero gets one or Hans tries to kill him with one.

“You picked me up at your club.” I smirk. “But my high heels were killing me, so I switched into these.” I point at my feet. Without the bulky socks bunched at the top of my shoes, I look much less memorable. “And I got too cold in my skimpy outfit, so you gave me your hoodie. Because you’re a gentleman.” I bat my eyes.

“Because I’m a gentleman,” Hans repeats.

“Yep.” I start walking, pulling him along with me. “Until we get to the room, of course. Then you’re going to fuck me like the brat I am.”

I wrap my arms tighter around her. “Hush, Butterfly.” I press my lips to her hair. “Please stop crying.”

She sniffs.

“Want me to tell you why I call you that?” I ask her.

Cassandra nods.

“Because you remind me of one. Beautiful. Mesmerizing. Too fragile for this awful world.” I slide one hand up to palm the back of her neck. “A pretty little butterfly I can’t help but want to protect.”
