Rickie's Regression-XLED

A frankly racy romance with decidedly more shades than gray, «Rickie’s Regression: Anatomy of a Desperate Dalliance," is a sometimes jaded, sometimes witty, but ultimately uncensored look at the uncommon addictions of a desperate housewife and her complicated liaison with a troubled—and even more addicted—younger man. At 46, housewife Rickie Freeman has two grown children, a sexually insatiable husband, and an unhealthy obsession with past-life regressions—as in, the kind that lead to present-life imbroglios. And lately, Rickie has been exchanging meaningful glances with a 29-year-old worker at her local market named Connor Gainnes, who she fancies might have been a lover in some centuries-past scenario. When she tells her best friend, clairvoyant Sophie Bellenaise, about the attraction, Sophie reminds her to keep it light—for Rickie has a history of unsatisfactory entanglements with individuals she believes were loves from her past lives. Unfortunately, the obsessive Rickie is no practitioner of keeping things light, and artfully nurtures her flame for Connor while simultaneously dealing with her argumentative and boorish husband, her difficult teen-aged son, and her needy elderly mother. When Connor suddenly loses his job at the market, Rickie dispenses with caution, tracks him down, and learns he is as a talented Irish pub singer whose drinking and skirt-chasing have turned his life into a debilitating nightmare. A smoldering, ill-advised relationship ensues, laced with Rickie’s glimpses into their romantic undoing in centuries-past Ireland. But Connor, steeped in his own problems, demands a time-out, giving Rickie an incentive to connect with him on a higher level as she explores ways of helping him combat his addictions. The outcome has life-altering consequences for Rickie; for her cheating and insensitive husband, Pete; and for the sexually-addicted Connor, who shares more than just a past life with the complex and tenacious Rickie.

As the prequel to “Rickie Redeemed: Chronicle Of A Cure,” Rickie’s Regression answers the question of how the quirky, artistic, New Age maven, Rickie Freeman, evolved into the sexually irresistible divorcée, Rickie Lennox—with a little help from her past-life friends.
