An amateur mushroom hunter, Kaolin, and her brother, Gully, have their paths diverge after a note leads her to a remote area of the forest, as he stays behind to play video games. An old woman treats a drone like a pet, and an aggrieved writer plots his revenge with the help of his never-sober girlfriend. At the center of it all is a dubious bar, mobbed with formally-attired, pill-popping headset wearers.
