‘The Grip of Childhood Sexual Abuse’ contains over thirty years of what we did to recover from the impacts of our abuse.
We are three sisters who were sexually abused by our father from toddlers fight through to our teenage years. In 1990, our father received a prison sentence of 7 years ensuring our case changed the statute of limitations in cases of historical sexual abuse in Ireland.
The Grip of Childhood Sexual Abuse' tells the story of our healing journey to overcome the impacts of our abuse. Tragically victims unknowingly accrue many syndromes and disorders as a direct result of enduring sexual abuse over a long period of time. We believe we can help victims by sharing what we've learned. Through recognising our own strengths, we can encourage others to shed the self-limiting beliefs trauma survivors often unconsciously own.
Throughout this book we speak openly and honestly bout the many ways our lives were impacted. Our sense of humour which continues to play a role in our recovery, shines through and aids in making the subject more palatable.
We firmly believe this book can build awareness and understanding around this life altering crime, and how more importantly, it will bring a true sense of hope for all those that have an continue to suffer the consequences of being sexually abused.
Family and friends provided support by lending their voices to the many characters within the story, bringing the audiobook to life and broadening its accessibility.
