The outcome is that work on the project should enrich the family life rather than impoverish it.

    One might ask what prevents these same talented people from leaving Alchemy tomorrow for work with a competitor. The answer is nothing. It is the role of the business not to prevent people from leaving, but rather to attract them. Personal contracts and legal vendettas will do nothing to prevent talent deserting the corporation.

    All decisions other than that having to do with expenditure of resources and alignment with business strategy are delegated to the people doing the work. They manage the business and earn entirely in terms of its success. I imagine that it is difficult for the reader to determine if the various people working on the “Bask” project are employees of Alchemy. This is, of course, intentional, as the answer is irrelevant.

    They keep in touch through the RAD network, a computer-satellite link which allows visual contact as needed. Twice during the project the families got together, the first time hosted by Paul and Mary Babanigida, the couple handling the market research in Lagos, and the second time hosted by the Browns in Bournemouth. The group is planning a third meeting to celebrate the conclusion of the project in southern France.

Fluctuations in income might become a significant factor in team functioning, forcing the team to carefully plan its use of resources. In essence, every team has become a small business, and the sense of ownership is at its maximum. Each team member can track his compensation in real time according to the impact of his work in the market (how much the business profits).
