In the decayed town of St. Bertrand de Comminges, an English antiquarian discovers a priceless manuscript collection once compiled by the sinister Canon Alberic. Among its treasures lies a horrifying drawing that seems “drawn from life.” That night, in his inn, the scholar faces a monstrous presence resembling the figure in the picture.
