Jon Michael Riley

Born in Jack Kerouac's town of Lowell, MA but soon hauled off to rural North Carolina because my Dad was in the textile business. It was like moving to another planet, what with a paucity of food products in the small grocery stores, a rigid and Draconian system of white supremacy, and white kids coming to school barefoot. But I survived it all and when I discovered Faulkner, I understood his world...the world of Intruder in the Dust...much better.Still love the Southern writers. And where I live near Asheville, NC, there are a passle of 'em. Really, there are good writers everywhere and they are cranking out marvelous books faster than I'll ever be able to read.
